Happy Birthday, Dad

Today my dad is celebrating his 69th birthday. We went over to my parents' home for dinner yesterday. My brother and his family were there too. Here's my dad with Fleur and Nick. Sanne was not in the mood for having her picture taken.

Lieve papa, van harte gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag en een fijne dag!

Of course I made my dad a card. The card is based on Card Patterns' Sketch 23. It's been a while since I used one of the Card Patterns sketches and it was good to play along again.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Pebbles Inc. Downtown Tools: Martha Stewart Zigzag edge punch, Stampin'Up Tag punch, Sizzix Stars #2, sewing machine Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: chipboard

I finished my Jillibean Soup assignments for CHA Summer, and will mail them to Jill today.

Have a wonderful day!

School's Out For Summer

Fleur and Sanne had their last day of school today. They now have a 6 week summer break, and have to go back to school on August 24. After the summer break Fleur goes to group 5, and Sanne goes to group 3. They both said goodbye to their teachers today, and of course they wanted to bring a little gift. I was already thinking about creating something for their teachers back in May, but I ended up making something last night. I am not that great at planning. I decorated a box with petits fours, and a chocolate bar.

Here are the gifts for Sanne's teachers...

And these sets are for Fleur's teachers...

ShortCuts, Cuttlebug Challenge & Jillibean Soup

It's Wednesday so time to show you my ShortCuts and Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot projects. Let's start with ShortCuts today. This month's sponsor is Deborah from MemoryWorks. She sent us some wonderful kits to work with. This card - again quite clean & simple - was inspired by SheetLoad of Cards July sketch. ShortCuts has teamed up with Caardvarks for their first challenge this month. Head on over to their new challenge post to find out how you can play along and win ShortCuts goodies!!

Starting this month, and each month through the end of the year, ShortCuts will welcome a new Guest Artist. You will be able to see their creations using the ShortCuts products on every Friday for the month. This month our Guest Designer is Lisette Gibbons. Lisette is an amazingly talented scrapbooker and card maker, and she is also a very wonderful person. I can tell, because Lisette is my dear sister-in-law. You can read more about Lisette's Guest DT gig here. Hop on over to her blog to see her gorgeous cards, mini albums and layouts.

Since last week my Wednesday blog posts are also dedicated to Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot, because the new Be Inspired Challenges are posted on that day. I have been a DT member for only 2 weeks now, but I can tell you I love being a member a lot. The challenges are great. This week's challenge Be Inspired #39 is to create a woodsy outdoor project, using woodsy animals (except for snakes) using twigs, pebbles anything from nature and a fun colour template as a component for this week. Details on this week's challenge and the gorgeous DT projects can be found here. If you participate in all 4 challenges for the month of July you'll be entered in the drawing and have a chance to win some of the new folders going to CHA.

Here's my card for this week. Except for the ribbon and twine I only used goodies from my stash.

Laura's Sketch #29

How is the weather in your corner of the world? Here it is.....HOT! Way too hot for me. Fortunately my scrap room is in the basement, and I can tell you it is the best place to be at the moment. I have been working on several assignments, and my editing work for Scrapbook Magazine, so I am very busy. In between I had a little time to participate in this week's sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You. This card is based on Laura's Sketch #29. It turned out very clean & simple. The 2 Sketches 4 You DT inspired me to use my Scor-it Mini for embossing.

It is Wednesday, so time for a new challenge over at Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot. Be Inspired #38 is my debut, and it is a great challenge to kick off my DT term. This week's challenge is to use red, white and blue, add buttons, and use the Swiss Dots embossing folder. My favorite elements and a perfect color combo. We don't have Independence Day on 4 July over here, but I couldn't resist making a 4th of July card. I really like how this card turned out. I hope the one who receives this card likes it too.

Cuttlebug Challenge Blog Fall DT Member

A few weeks ago I was invited by Maggie to join the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog Design Team for a period of 6 months. I love using my die cutting machine - it is one of my favorite tools - and I am always in for a challenge, so the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog is right up my alley. Today Maggie announced the Fall Design Team. I am excited to be part of such an amazingly talented group of designers. My sweet friend Hanneke is part of the Fall DT too. Isn't that great? The Cuttlebug Challenge Blog is meant to inspire you. The DT will bring you exciting ideas, challenges, tutorials, videos and even contests!

The CuttleBug Challenge Blog is having a countdown to the Summer CHA 09' Celebration!!! It starts on June 29th and doesn't end until July 31st!!! That's an ENTIRE month of FUN....and you get to see all the new folders in action!!! How exciting!!! You can check out all the details here!

Oh....and did you already see the new 5x7" and A2 embossing Christmas folders that Provo Craft will be releasing at CHA Summer? You can find them here.

I will have my debut on Wednesday July 1st when the new Be Inspired challenge will be posted. It is a great challenge, so be sure to check in that day.

Happy Sunday!

Busy

I have been pretty busy lately and hardly have time to participate in any of my favorite challenge blogs. Things at work are very hectic, and the same goes for my scrapbooking. Lots of assignments and deadlines to meet. CHA is coming up in a few weeks, and I have to prepare a few projects for Jillibean Soup. I would like to finish my projects next week, so I can send them to Jill in time.

This layout about Sanne was published in Scrapbook Magazine 23. These gorgeous BoBunny patterned papers were taken home straight from CHA by Truike, owner of Paper & Pictures at the end of January. Again I had the privilege to work with the newest papers for the magazine. Can't wait to find out what the manufacturers have in mind for us this summer.

ShortCuts & The Cutting Cafe Tutorial

As promised, I am back to share a tutorial on how to make the window envelope that I showed you last Wednesday. You will need a 8.5 x 11" piece of patterned paper, a piece of a ShortCuts clear and frosted sheet, and an envelope template from The Cutting Cafe. It's an easy project and can be finished in a short time.

The finished project looks like this...

The weather is beautiful this week. We will have BBQ for dinner.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Father's Day

A bit late on Sunday as it is already 10.45 pm, but I didn't have time to do a post earlier today. Eric got spoilt this morning with beautiful handmade gifts by Fleur and Sanne. Fleur made him a note-pad with LOTS of glitter on the cover and back, so our bed is full of glitters now. Sanne made him a pencil box as well as 3 drawings. We also bought Eric 3 books of his favorite writers Martin Bril - who unfortunately passed away earlier this year - and Hugo Borst.

I created this card for my father-in-law. I used the Jillibean Soup Black Bean collection.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Jillibean Soup Black Bean, Cream of Mushroom on White Journaling sprouts: Jillibean Soup Circles Black on White Stickers: Jillibean Soup Alphabeans Black Ribbon: Jillibean Soup Polka ribbon Button: Autumn Leaves Tools: Fiskars Upper Crest border punch, QuicKutz Nesting Flowers, sewing machine Ink: VersaColor Charcoal Other: waxed cord

I can't wait to get my hands on the new Jillibean Soup products. I can't show you anything yet, but I can tell you that Jill did an AWESOME job. I am sure that Jillibean Soup will be a huge hit at CHA again

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
